Worth mentioning is the fact that the Lake is a great regulator of the micro climate in the Ohrid region. During the summer months it absorbs the heat from the Sun, which again, radiates back in the air during the winter months. This radiation of warmth equals to 16 million vagons of coal. What is incredible about the Lake is its translucency (23 m), due to the fact that this is the only Lake in the world which is fed mostly by sub aquatic springs. One can easily say that the entire Lake is one gigantic spring.
